Romance Writers Weekly – True Love

Hello and welcome to the blog hop! Unique in what we write, we all come together for romance. So if you missed what the amazing Leslie Hachtel had to say, just click and pop back.

Today the incredible Brenda Margriet gives us the topic:

My oldest daughter is getting married this summer, and my second daughter next year, which has me thinking about how people meet and fall in love. Share your favourite story. It could be you and your spouse, your parents, friends or family.

Well first of all, congratulations Brenda! Enjoy every minute of those weddings!

This topic also fits in perfectly this week because tomorrow, July 10th is my husband’s and my 9 year wedding anniversary! We’ve been together for 13 years total. The summer we got married was super hot, not unlike the weather this week. However, we got lucky and it was cooler on our wedding day, so we were able to enjoy the weather and dance long into the night. It’s crazy and sometimes he asks me, ‘what’s wrong with you for putting up with me for so long?’ Haha, he’s always so silly. I love him to the moon and back.

I will tell the story of how we met. I’ve been a swim coach since I’ve been able to work and after coaching for my home swim team for 10 plus years, I decided to move onto another team. My second summer we swam against another team and I happened to notice the other coach from the opposing team was pretty damn cute. I gathered the courage to go say hi.

I distinctly remember giving him my phone number so we could meet up at the coaches party at the end of the season. He always says that I gave him a blank piece of paper. Why would I ever do that?! Silly boy. Anyway we did end up meeting at the party and hanging out the entire night.

We had a ton in common, including being goofy nerds. We both love Star Wars, superheroes, Harrison Ford, board games and sports. We did share our first kiss that night and the rest was history. Although he claims that I made the first move and kissed him first. NO WAY! He totally kissed me first, he went the 90, I went the 10. To this day, we still ‘argue’ about this.

I am excited to see what the next many more years bring us. We’ve had our ups and downs, but we’ve always been by each others sides and always will.

Here is a picture of when we first met, we are young-ins!

Tomorrow I have to work, but my hubby is an awesome griller so we will be having steaks on the grill with mushrooms and cauliflower mashed potatoes. Delicious, I can’t wait! I usually make the desserts, but we have extra cheesecake so we will be eating that, YUM!

So that’s my fun story of how my husband and I met. Now continue on the hop and see what the incredible A.S. Fenichel has to say about her favourite falling in love story. Until next time!
