Romance Writers Weekly ~ New Goals

Welcome fellow writers and readers. It’s great to have you here for our blog hop! I’m very excited to share that we will be traveling to the east coast of Canada for two weeks! We’re bringing the kids with us and can’t wait to show them around where we used to live and where my son was born. My only worry is the super long flight, eek!

If you missed what the incredible Leslie Hachtel had to say, just click and pop back.

Today we are asked:

What are your goals for the next six or even 12 months? What books are you working on? What’s next for you?

My goals for the next six plus months are to keep entering short story contests and to start a new novel. Like I’ve previously said before, I’ve had a major block on writing a full length novel. I’ve entered 2500 word, 1000 word, 250 word micro flash, and 100 word micro flash fiction. I really enjoy those competitions!

Right now I’m writing for a 600 word rhyming competition. For all of these contests they assign you a genre, word or emotion. I’ve gotten some interesting genres and words mashed together! They keep giving me horror, and that’s been way out of my comfort range for writing, but it’s been fun. This time around for the rhyming contest, I was assigned the horror genre, imaginary as a theme, and courageous as a word. Adding rhyming has made an even deeper level into my writing.

Hopefully I have the chance to write a full length novel or at least start one. I’m trying to decide if I’m going to enter Nanowrimo. I work later afternoons/evenings and the days are filled with shuttling kids around, so sometimes writing gets pushed to the wayside. That’s just a big excuse, I know. I must focus on writing. I keep toying around with the idea of publishing all my short stories together, or my poems. I’ve even though about writing a children’s book.

So there are my goals for the next foreseeable future. I’m excited to work on them. Well that’s it for me today, now continue on the hop to see what goals the wonderful PG Forte has for this year. Until next time!
