Romance Writers Weekly – Winter Destinations

Welcome to the blog hop! I hope everyone had a nice three day weekend. We didn’t have the chance to go anywhere but we still filled it none the less. Saturday a friend came over and we went out to lunch, on Sunday my parents, husband and I took my son to the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley and he LOVED it! He got to make his own paper rocket and crank a machine and push a button to see how high it would fly. He spent the whole afternoon wide-eyed and wanting to learn everything. At the end of the day he got to pick one thing from the gift shop and he picked a giant slinky, something that he has wanted for a long time. He’s been carrying it with him everywhere. We finished the day with a ride on a steam train through the forest, it was cold but fun! Today we went for a nice hike and he splashed in the mud the entire time.

Today the lovely Dani Jace asks us:

Pick a winter destination. If you could pick one place to stay the winter, other than home, where would it be and why?

Wow… There are a lot of places to travel. I’ve always wanted to go to Norway to see the Aurora Borealis Northern Lights and I bet at winter time it would be just amazing, wondrous and incredible. I’ve never been that far north, I bet it would be quite cold. The coldest place I’ve ever been in winter is Calgary which was -30 C with a windchill making it -50 C, eeek!

Another place I would like to travel to is Iceland. I’ve heard there is a mountain that looks like it’s straight out of a fairytale. It would be pretty amazing to see a mountain like that and the start for a wonderful making of a story.

Lake Tahoe in California is a beautiful place to visit in the winter! I’ve been there many times and continue to go. It’s snowy (this year) but not super cold and just a very fun winter destination. You can ski/snowboard in the morning then spend the afternoon in front of the fireplace with hot chocolate and s’mores, and then in the evening you can have wine and sit in the outside hot tubs with snow surrounding you. The summertime is also a very good time to go with bike riding and hiking.

I don’t know if I will ever be able to visit those places, (besides Lake Tahoe) but I really hope so. They would be an amazing once in a life time chance to go visit and explore.

Well that’s it for me today. If you missed what the incredible A.S. Fenichel had to say just click and pop back or continue on the hop to see what the amazing Leslie Hachtel has to say. I hope everyone is staying warm this winter. Until next time!
