Romance Writers Weekly – Romantic Memories

Welcome to the blog hop! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent mine completely bored by the Superbowl. At least we were in good company. If you missed what the amazing Leslie Hachtel had to say just click and pop back.

Today the incredible A.S. Fenichel asks us:

What was your most romantic memory? Did you set up something, did someone else do something romantic for you? Come on, dish…

Over the ten years we’ve been married and fourteen together we’ve had a lot of romantic memories. Yes we hit the ten year mark this year, I can’t believe it! I honestly don’t know where the past ten years have gone, we’ve moved across country twice, had one child and now another one on the way!

We tend to do small things for each other, which I really like. My husband likes to cook, so he often surprised me with romantic dinners. He makes one of my favourites which we just call pasta dish. Its penne pasta with bacon, peas, cream and fresh parsley on top. It is so delicious! He buys flowers just because to have them on our table. That reminds me of my dad who always has flowers for my mom which is so sweet.

When we were doing long distance in school I surprised him one weekend by coming down and being in his apartment when he showed up from school/work. He was so happy to see me because we hadn’t seen each other in a long time.

We’ve taken romantic get away trips together. Lake Tahoe in the winter is a lot of fun, we snowboarded/skied and then sat by the fire and had hot chocolate. When we lived in St. John’s we took a weekend trip out to Dildo, Newfoundland and it was the best little bed and breakfast ever. The fish and chips we had there were the most amazing fish and chips I’ve ever had in my entire life! We got away for three days during our Maui trip where my in-laws watched our son and we got to go to Honolulu. It was nice to get away just the two of us, but I did feel a little ill during the trip so I think we need a makeup. I’m hoping we can get away for a weekend before the new baby comes and enjoy ourselves together in the quiet.

Like I said, I enjoy the little things we do for each other. He knows I love chocolate so he’ll buy me a good piece. I know he loves wine, so I’ll find him a bottle I think would be delicious. Sometimes the little things mean so much more than the big ones. Not to say that I wouldn’t mind a huge surprise trip of we’re going back to Newfoundland for a vacation!!! (Hint, hint, wink ;))

Well I’m done talking about all my romantic thoughts. Continue on the hop to see what the lovely A.S. Fenichel has to say. Until next time!
