I love the red orange glow of the setting sun and the waves crashing upon the sand. I’m sitting here in a comfy chair looking out at the ocean on my last day in Maui. It seems like the perfect time to write a blog post. No one is around and it is quiet except for the waves. I hope to carry the zen life out here back home with me.

I love getting the words onto the paper! Sometimes my ideas are just flowing and I have to get them out. On the days when they come pouring out of my fingertips and onto the computer or paper, it is the best feeling in the world. I feel like nothing can stop me. The sense of accomplishment that comes afterwards is amazing.
The thing I like the least is editing. It takes so much time and effort and I have a very hard time cutting words out. Since I’m still a newbie at this, I feel that if I cut a paragraph or a page out, the story will be missing so much. It has been a very hard lesson to learn what to cut out and and what to keep. Right now my editor says I need to cut the first 20 pages!!! EEEK! I’m having a difficult time with this. But after reading through it, I can see what she means and the novel will be stronger without it.
To fix my fear of editing, I try and do an hour a day. I take it slow and really pay attention to what I am editing. I’ve found that by going back through I can remove some sentences and make the whole novel stronger. Even just moving some sentences to a different place changes the novel, but in a good way. I keep going, chugging along and I know that my novels will be stronger because of it.
