Romance Writers Weekly – New Year, New Words

Welcome to 2017 and the first blog post of the new year! I hope everyone had a fabulous holiday and are ready to get rolling into the new year. If you missed what the amazing Leslie Hachtel had to say, just click and pop back.

Today the talented Lyra Parish asks us: How did you be spend your New Years? What literary goals have you made for 2017?

This  New Year my husband, son and I traveled the long 5 hour flight to Maui. My in-laws have a little place there and they invited us to come and ring in the new year with them. Hey, when you get a Christmas present that includes air fare to Hawaii you don’t say no! So far we have enjoyed the beach, relaxing on the patio and by the pool, long walks, bike rides, paddle boarding/boogie boarding, reading and shaved ice (so yummy)!!! We rang in the new year quietly by having fondue and playing games. Then at 10p (midnight Californian time) we celebrated 2017 and went to bed. (My little one gets up early and we like to hit the beach before it gets crowded.)

Since being here I have not opened my computer once, six days!! It’s been a little hard but I decided that I needed a little bit of a break before jumping back into everything again. We still have another eight days here and I hope to start writing while I’m here but if it doesn’t happen, I’m not worried.

My literary goals for this year are to finish editing Wrongfully Wed and I really mean it! I am going to finish this year! I have a short prequel in mind and then I will see where the writing takes me. I have plenty of ideas rolling around in my head, I just have to take the time and get them out on paper.

Time for me and time for writing. Let’s do this 2017!

Thanks so much for joining, now continue on the hop and see what the incredible Lyra Parish has to say. Until next time!
