Romance Writers Weekly – The Best and The Worst

Hello! I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day and got to spend time with their families or in the spa, or whatever you like to do. My family and I went mini golfing, it was so much fun. My son had a great time and got many hole in ones, haha.

Today the talented A.S. Fenichel asks us:

What’s the best part of being a writer? What’s the worst?

The best part of being a writer is finishing a story and writing The End. I love writing about the characters and see them develop before my eyes. There is great satisfaction watching the characters delve deep into themselves to find what they truly want, and writing that can be so much fun.

I love that people are reading my work and knowing that my ideas are out there. There is something thrilling with knowing that others are reading and sharing what I’ve written.

As a writer you can really do your job anywhere you want. I don’t know if I could type a whole story on an iPhone, but I usually have my computer or notebook with me at all times. When an idea or inspiration strikes, I’m able to get it written out. When it’s warm you can sit outside and type, you don’t have to be cramped up indoors.

The hardest part of being a writer for me is the writers block I can get hit with. Sometimes I’ll have to walk away from a project for a couple of days. The worst was when I have to do edits and I can’t think of the correct way to rewrite something, or it just reads weird.

Finding the time is also hard for me sometimes, I have to shlep my kiddo to and from school and sports, and now we have another one on the way! I think it will be a little while before I write again with all the lack of sleep I’m going to have. I have to get in all the writing while I can before July! It’s also hard when there are so many good ideas out there, you have to find a way to make yours stand out among everyone.

I wouldn’t trade being a writer for anything. It may take me a long time to finish one book, but eventually I will finish it and I will be able to type those satisfying words The End.

That’s it for me today! If you missed what the incredible A.S. Fenichel had to say just click and pop back, or continue on the hop to see what the amazing Leslie Hachtel has to say. Until next time!
