Welcome back to the blog hop! This is my crazy week of coaching swim meets, son’s activities and hubby out of town. Thankfully I was able to find a few quiet moments on this Sunday night and write this blog.
We have a blog hop going on each week. All of us authors get asked a question and we respond, hopping from one person to the next. If you missed what the incredible A. S. Fenichel had to say just click and pop back. Today the amazing Fiona Riplee wants to find out some insights into the psyche of our minds by learning about what movie or Network series that we LOVE to watch. What do you think the movie(s) or show(s) says about your creative personality?
What a great question! My hubby and I are very much into the superhero shows right now. There are so many of them, and they are all awesome! We watch Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, Marvel’s Agents of Shield, Marvel’s Agent Carter, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Whew! What a mouthful. I also watch Gotham, Sleepy Hollow, Grimm, Vampire Diaries and Hell’s Kitchen. My new favourite is Limitless. It is based off of the movie that came out a couple of years ago. The main character brings so much life and is hilarious as he goes around solving FBI cases. If you haven’t seen it yet, you should check it out!
I don’t know what that says about my psyche or my creative personality… maybe I wish I was a superhero or could live in a world where they have them. The people who direct and create these shows are amazing. The imagination of Stan Lee is just phenomenal!! To create all these different characters and worlds, wow!
I know these aren’t romance stories, but maybe they help me to create a sense of adventure in my books. A lot of these comics have strong women, and in my debut novel, the heroine is definitely strong! She doesn’t take shit from anyone, haha.
Some of the other shows I watch like Grimm, Sleepy Hollow and Vampire Diaries are all very supernatural. I keep thinking there is supernatural/romance book in me somewhere. Who knows… I have a lot of ideas that bounce around in my head but none have come out on paper yet.
I think I pull a little creativity in from all these shows I watch. Maybe one will be the inspiration for my next book. I really loved this one show called Saving Hope. It is a medical show where the main characters are romantically involved but the hero can see ghosts and has to help them through the void. It’s really good! A romantic paranormal comedy might be in floating around in my thoughts.
As you can see my creativity is all over the place. But I guess that is a good thing, who knows what will pop up into my next book. I think we all pull in from our surroundings to create intriguing characters and new, amazing worlds to explore.
I’m glad I was able to join the hop this week. That’s it for me today! What shows does Carrie Elks watch, and what do they say about her creative personality? Continue on the hop, until next time!
