Romance Writers Weekly – Writing Nook

Hello everybody! I hope everyone is doing well. I read a really good article recently that said we all we need to do is arrive. We will come out on the other side of this. Don’t worry about tomorrow, it will come, just concentrate on today.

If you missed what the marvelous Caro Kinkead had to say, just click and pop back, or leap forward to see what the remarkable Elizabeth Schechter has to say.

Today the sensational A.S. Fenichel asks us to:

Tell us about where you write, edit or create. Do you have a special place? Do you need a cup of tea or coffee? Set the writer scene for your writing time.

The last couple of years I’ve been writing at night. It’s the only time I really get to myself. I used to write in the morning but my kids have taken that over.

I have a nice desk upstairs that’s in our loft, but it’s also toy central. I try and write there when I can. However, I usually end up on the couch. It is pretty comfortable and I have a nice coffee table next to me for snacks and drinks.

Depending on my mood, I’ll either put on some instrumental music or a TV show like The Office. Something for background noise. It’s really hard for me to write in complete silence.

When it’s not too warm or cold out, I have the perfect comfortable chair with a foot rest outside. I can look around my backyard and watch my son play, I love it!

If I get to write in the morning I have coffee, if it’s the afternoon or evening I’ll drink water or a lemonade, sometimes wine.

I love to go to a bookstore and write if I get the chance. When I used to live in St. John’s my husband and I would go every Wednesday to Chapters bookstore and sit there for hours. He would do his work and I would write. We’ve been able to get out a couple of times while my son is at school, but now my daughter is starting to move around.

I try each night to get some type of writing done. Some days go well and some are hard. Cheers to writing and hearing about everyone’s writing nooks. Until next time!

Now check out Elizabeth Schechter’s book Bones of Earth (Heir to the Firstborn Book 3)

It’s up for preorder now!

Shattered by betrayal, Aria’s Companions have separated. Aven and Del have retreated to the safety of the Water tribe, leaving Owyn and Treesi behind on land to stand with Aria and help their wounded Heir heal. Despite their best efforts, Aria retreats, rejecting them both.

Owyn knows that he and Treesi can’t do this alone. He starts riding out to the coastal villages surrounding Terraces, sending messages out to the deep, begging Aven to come back, telling him that the Heart can reach the Heir. Then he returns from one such trip to find Aria and Treesi have left Terraces, leaving him behind.

Abandoned, Owyn leaves Terraces. Instead of following Aria, he goes north, trying to find a way to contact the Water tribes. Trying to find a way to save everything before it’s too late.

To do that, he must face his deepest fear, risk losing his heart, and accept help from the most unlikely of allies.
