Romance Writers Weekly – The Dog Days of Summer

Hello and welcome to the blog hop. It has been a long, HOT summer. I feel like each summer it gets warmer and warmer. My husband is from Canada and I tell him that it used to rain in northern California when I grew up. I always remember swim meets in the cold rain. He doesn’t believe me, but I swear it’s true. I just hope that it cools down soon! I’m so done with all the heat. I know it’s hot in some parts of Canada right now, but even just the slightest bit cooler would be nice.

If you missed what the incredible Brenda Margriet had to say, just click and pop back. Today the talented A.S. Fenichel asks us:

It’s HOT! What’s your favorite way to keep cool during the Dog Days of Summer? It can be anything…

Well I love to jump into the pool! If there is a pool around when it is hot them I’m in it. Sometimes it can get too warm with all the bodies in the pool so it’s not worth it. We’ve had a couple of days over 100 and it’s just too hot to go outside. I like to sit inside with a book, the air conditioning on and a ice cold drink in hand.

Sometimes the evenings can be quite nice so we take some music outside and sit in comfy chairs. I’ll have a book or my computer, my husband will have some wine and we will watch our crazy child run around the backyard and jump in his little splash pool we have.

I also like to go to movies when it’s hot out, but we haven’t had a chance to see a whole lot this summer. We saw Jurassic World and I took my son to see the Incredibles 2, but that’s it. I’m hoping we can pop in and see Mission Impossible, but I don’t know if we will get the chance.

There are quite a few more days of hot summer left. We get that Indian summer in late August/September when you just want all the heat to be gone and done, but it still lingers. I’m definitely ready for cooler weather. I get too hot and dehydrated, that’s no fun at all.

Staying in the shade with a book and ice cold lemonade is the best!

So what does the amazing Leslie Hachtel do to keep cool during summer? Continue on the hop to find out. Stay cool my fellow readers!
