#lovechatwrite
Welcome to the hop! I hope everyone has had a great weekend. I spent mine “resetting” the house. I cleaned the garage and organized some of it. I need to do a bit more but it looks soooo much better. I’m trying a new word. Reset. I’m hoping the kids will think it’s cooler than me telling them to clean up their room. Instead they have to reset their room, or downstairs or their toys. We’ll see how it goes.
Today we are asked to share an excerpt from your current or most recent work.
Here is my most recent work. It’s part of a 1000 word flash fiction. My genre assigned was fantasy. I had a fun time writing this one. Here’s a sneak peek:
The quest was simple really – find the damsel in distress, defeat the enemy, kiss said damsel, and live happily ever after. Of course it didn’t happen like that.
The day Meena walked into our village, everything changed. The overcast sky held an ominous warning. A flash of lightning struck, and the air smelled putrid. She walked straight up to me, told me to find the Library of Eternity for it contained the knowledge of ages.
As her eyes changed color from seafoam green to gold, I knew she was fey. She could persuade me to jump off a cliff and I would. My powers as a kitsune were nothing compared to hers, but I did have the power of the oceans on my side.
“What happens if I fail?” I had asked.
“Vampires will end our world,” she replied.
“Where do I start?”
“You must find Calphin. The princess has been trapped by an ogre for over a decade.”
Dread curled in my stomach. “How do I succeed?”
“You’re pure of heart,” she said simply.
Her grip was strong as and heat flamed my cheeks. I could scarcely breathe, and my head swam as I was lost in her ever-changing gaze. “What’s your name?” I whispered.
“Meena. Good luck Davril.”
I stumbled back, my heart stuck in my throat. I blinked, but she was gone.
I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into my writing. That’s it for me today, continue on the hop to see what work the talented Brenda Margriet has to share. Until next time!
