Romance Writers Weekly ~ Seasonal Writing Disorder?

Hello and welcome to the blog hop! I thought we could escape getting sick in our house, but my son came down with a fever on Sunday night and he’s still home from school today. I’m trying to keep him hydrated, but he’s so funny with water sometimes. I added some gatorade this morning and he’s drinking now! I hope I can keep everyone else germ free. We’re supposed to go up to the snow this weekend, so I’m crossing my fingers that we still get to go.

Do the seasons affect your writing? Tell us how.

I think they do. Sometimes it’s much easier for me to write when it’s cold outside because then I don’t mind being inside. Same when it’s super hot out, it’s okay to be inside. Here in California it’s pretty easy to write any day because the weather stays fairly moderate. Right now it’s cold, windy and rainy, so a good day to stay inside.

When I lived on the east coast of Canada it was cold a lot of the time, so when we had nice days we couldn’t really stay inside, we had to make the best of the weather. Especially in St. John’s. We had one year where we called June – Junuary because it was so cold and wet. I think we’d had ten days of summer that year, haha!

I wish I could be writing today, but alas I’m studying for my personal training test. I like to go to coffee shops sometimes to sit and write. They just opened our new Barnes and Noble so I can’t wait to go there and write away! There are a ton of seats and tables around the cafe, they actually put chairs around the book store so you can sit and read. It’s amazing!

Sometimes the seasons can affect my mood, so the writing for the day will either be a happier one, or I will be committed to write a more dower scene. It’s funny how weather can affect our writing.

Well that’s it for me today, now continue on the hop to see if the seasons affect the incredible Leslie Hachtel. Until next time!
