Romance Writers Weekly ~ Romance Tropes

Hello and welcome to the blog hop! I hope everyone has stayed safe during these tough times. We’ve slowly started to open things up here in California. The weather has gotten really warm so we are doing a lot of running through the sprinklers.

I’ve also gone back through some favourite books and movies and have enjoyed watching and rereading. It’s something that’s been keeping me happy.

If you missed what the amazing Leslie Hachtel had to say, just click and pop back.

Today the incredible Brenda Margriet asks us:

What’s your favourite romance trope to read and/or write? Friends to Lovers? Marriage of convenience? Second chances?

Oh what a good question! I’ve read all of these and enjoy them. I tend to veer towards second chances and marriage of convenience.

I wrote a short story that was about a second chance. A woman and a man were once together and she heard a lie about him and he was sent away. Many years later they reunite and of course realize they still love each other.

There are so many things you can do with marriage of conveniences. The man will have to marry for money or vise versa. Or they have to marry to connect their families and they hate each other at first, then come to love each other. Like I said, so many different ways which you can spin this type of story!

Sometimes I like stories where the characters meet and fall in love right away, but most of the time I like it when the love connection is spread out through the whole book and you see the trials and tribulations the characters have to go through to get their happily ever afters.

If you have a favourite trope to read, let me know in the comments!

That’s it for me. Now continue on the hop to see what the talented Caro Kinkead’s favourite trope to read and write is. Until next time!
