Happy Tuesday! I can’t believe there is just one week left until Thanksgiving and then only a month until Christmas. I’m not ready at all! Our topic today talks about mindset when writing romance. Let’s jump in.
Do you think writing romance novels requires a different mindset or approach compared to other genres?
I definitely think you have to be in the right type of mood to write romance. If I’m feeling lonely or unhappy at all, I can’t write romance. If I do, it’s the dark moment of the story.
You really have to dig deep with character feelings, where with other genres I don’t feel like you have to go as deep. You can keep the emotions on the surface. With romance you have to know the why of the feelings even if the characters don’t know it yet.
That’s it for me today, now continue on the hop to see what the talented Brenda Margriet has to say. Until next time!
