Romance Writers Weekly ~ Review Day

Welcome to the blog hop my friends! The weather is finally becoming a bit cooler and I love it. I can wear a t-shirt during the day, and put on a sweatshirt in the evening. This past weekend I went to the Renaissance Faire with my sister, boyfriend, and some of her friends. It was so much fun! We got to do archery, watch a few shows and have some mead. It was a blast and I definitely want to go back again next year. Hopefully we can make it a yearly tradition.

Here’s the topic for today, Writers are readers, too! Write a review for a book within your genre.

This is actually a perfect topic for today because I’m on an ARC team for one of my favourite authors and it’s her book release day! I look forward to each book she writes because they are full of strong heroines, dependable heroes and all the juicy bits in between. It is an honour to be a part of this team. Here’s my review:

Twice Upon a Midnight by Anna Harrington

Lady Elenora Darby and her parents the Duke and Duchess or Durham have been living in Paris but they have returned and it is now time to introduce Ella into English Society. She finds the party outrageous and doesn’t enjoy meeting all the eligible gentlemen. They are all boring and have no imagination. Once outside she encounters a very interesting man that captures her attention with poetry in the moonlight. However, at midnight he disappears leaving behind a white glove. Along with her mama, she spends her time searching for him.

Spencer Rhodes is a hard worker. As a stepson to a Duke, nothing is handed to him and he is not a part of Society. His hands are constantly dirty from working as a printer. He worked from nothing to owning his own shop and wanting to open another one. Spenser forges his name on an invitation to the Ball and meets Ella. He knows she is special from the moment he meets her, different from all the other society misses. However, he knows he can’t have her due to his status.

Spenser is a wonderful hero, caring smart and loving. The heroine Ella is generous, kind and intelligent. They are just a special couple. It’s refreshing when Ella’s parents support her desire to marry for love and not just because she is a Lady in English Society. Spenser’s friend Martin makes for a perfect fairy godfather. With unexpected friends and foes, will the two find each other and get their happily ever after?

I fell in love with this spicy retelling of Cinderella from Anna Harrington. Twice Upon a Midnight was a delightful read. As usual, Anna always does a fantastic job writing well rounded stories, fully fleshed out characters and of course ROMANCE!

It’s release day for Scent of the Roses!

For years, Scout Patterson has tried to run from the mistakes in her past.  Now, she’s coming home–to face the ghosts she’s never laid to rest, and the love she thought she’d lost forever.

Memories and dreams are the only things that have gotten Nick Greco through the past twenty years.  Memories of the girl he loved and lost, and dreams of what his life would be like, if he could only find her again.   And if he can ever bring himself to believe that anything she tells him is true.

Can the star-crossed lovers put aside the hurt and distrust they still harbor toward each other?  Or will the evil which already nearly destroyed them once, triumph yet again?
