Hello and welcome to the blog hop! I’m glad I get the odd opportunity to write, hopefully I can write more in the next couple of months.
If you missed what the amazing Brenda Margriet had to say, just click and pop back.
Today the incredible A.S. Fenichel asks us about November 11th:
Tomorrow is my birthday. I know, things got terrible on this day in 2001. Where were you that day? What do you remember? What stood out to you? What was your “silver lining” takeaway?
That was a terrible day. I was a senior in high school and we were in our first period classes. My teacher must have heard that the planes were crashing into the World Trade Towers because he turned on the TV and then we all just watched in shock. We watched the news in almost every class except for my AP biology class where my teacher said we didn’t have time to watch, we had to learn about Punnett Squares. Something that still confuses me today…
I just remember everyone walking around in confusion, worry and anger. We talked about it a little bit in our World History class. After that day, it was a constant topic of conversation for weeks to come. Many of my fellow students had differing opinions about what should happen and what was going to happen in the world next.
I think what stood out to me was that many people were divided, but it also brought many together. I didn’t know anyone that was there that day, but some of my classmates did. My parents had been in New York just a couple of weeks earlier. It was a very scary thought of what could have happened to them.
The silver lining takeaway was that people came together. It didn’t matter what side of politics they were on, we all worked together and helped each other out.
That’s it for me today, now continue on the hop to see what the talented Leslie Hachtel has to say. Until next time!
