Romance Writers Weekly ~ Relatable Characters

Welcome everyone! I hope it has been a great week for everyone. Ours was pretty busy even with our kids gone, we had so many things on our plate. I power washed the back patio, it needed cleaning so bad! I got to see a friend for her birthday and play golf. It was really nice.

Today we talk about creating memorable, lovable protagonists and their love interests.

Most of the time my characters will just come to me. I’ll have an idea for either the hero or the heroine and they will stay in my mind. Little things about them will come out, like how they like their coffee or what they like to do in their spare time.

The characters must have something that connects them. So I always try to find an interesting fact or quirk that makes someone memorable. I find something relatable between the two characters and build from there.

That’s it for me today, now continue on the hop to see how the incredible PG Forte creates memorable and lovable protagonists. Until next time!

IN THE DARK

San Francisco, 1969. Vampire Conrad Quintano has been around for centuries—long enough to know that falling for a human is a terrible idea. Much less falling for adventure-seeking hippie Desert Rose. An even more terrible idea? Agreeing to raise her babies and protect them with his life.

Present day. Marc and Julie Fischer have always known they’re vampires. Raised in virtual isolation, they’ve never known their parentage or their unique status in the world. But once their uncle comes to take them home, the family reunion is nothing like they anticipated and they’re thrust into a world they’re completely unprepared for.
