#lovechatwrite
Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s blog hop. I hope that you all had a great weekend and a good week so far. I’m in the midst of getting my application set for substitute teaching. I haven’t done it in a very long time so I’m a little bit nervous. Cross your fingers and wish me good luck!
Today we are asked if current events ever impact our stories and to give an example.
I’ve never written a full length novel with a current event in it. However, I’ve written some short stories, or flash fictions that have a current event. I know this one isn’t a current event, but I did write a 250 word flash fiction about the Titanic. My genre was historical and that was the event that popped into my head.
I have a hard time putting real events into my writing. I don’t know if it’s that I don’t quite understand or that’s not the direction I want my writing to go.
One of the authors I follow does an amazing job of spinning details to sound as if they were actually at that event. Or she loosely bases her stories on a point in history and her books are soooo good!
I might put in a current event in a future writing if the inspiration strikes.
Well that’s it for me today, continue on the hop to see if the incredible PG Forte puts current events in her stories. Until next time!

‘Tis the season to be jolly, but Jasmine Quinn is far from happy about her mother’s latest folly: her upcoming wedding to former Wall Street financier, Sam Sterling. Jasmine doesn’t like her future stepfather, or his values. In fact, there’s only one thing about Sam that Jasmine can’t help but admire, no matter how much she’d like to—the graduate student he’s hired as an intern.
