Romance Writers Weekly ~ Read What You Write

Welcome everyone to the blog hop! I hope everyone is doing well. I had such a busy week! It was absolutely crazy with short days at school for the kids, parent/teacher conferences, and a lot of writing for a contest I was in.

This one was a rhyming story where they assign you a genre, theme and emotion, and you have a week to write 750 words. I know it doesn’t seem like very many words, but the story has to rhyme and that’s what makes it a challenge. I received rom-com, undercover and restlessness. It took me a good two days to think of something, and even then it took a lot of thought but I finished it and I think it was fun romp.

Here’s our topic for this week, enjoy!

Do you usually read the same genre that you write? Why or why not?

Yes! I love to read historical romance. My first author that I picked up was Sara Bennett and her book was The Rose and the Shield. Ever since then, I’ve been hooked! One of my favourite authors now is Anna Harrington. She does an amazing job of creating her characters. Her heroines are always strong women who overcome anything and everything to get their man.

I read a lot of different genres, but I really do love historical romance. Something about it takes me to a different place and time and I can get lost. I haven’t written anything historical in a long time. I continue these writing contests, and the genres I’ve been assigned are always different.

I will continue to read and write historical romance as it’s one of my favorites. Well that’s it for me today, now continue on the hop to see if the wonderful Jill Haymaker reads what she writes. Until next time!
