Romance Writers Weekly ~ Read This!

Hello it’s December! Can you believe it?! When did we get to the end of the year? I feel like we’ve done some things, but also done nothing at all.

The kids are going crazy, they always do this time of year. It’s hard to keep them on track with focusing on school and household chores. I like the holiday season, but it wears me out!

I missed last week because someone decided to hack my site. It was a pain to try and figure it all out. Luckily I have a tech savvy hubby who works in the tech world so he was eventually able to get it back up and running.

Pop back to see what the incredible A.S. Fenichel had to say.

This week we’ve been asked: What is one of your books in your back list that you wish more people would read? Introduce us and make us want to read it.

One of my all time favourites that I reread every year is The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce. I’m sure I’ve talked about it before. It’s about a girl who trades places with her brother and disguises herself as a boy to become a knight.

I absolutely love this series. The girl, Alanna works very hard to train and become a knight. There hasn’t been a female knight in more than a century. She becomes friends with the prince and makes enemies with the prince’s uncle. The first book (The First Adventure) is about her first year and how she keeps her secret. The second (In the Hand of the Goddess) puts her through her trials as a squire and the road to become a knight. The third (The Woman Who Rides Like a Man) has her going off doing great deeds to prove herself and the fourth (Lioness Rampant) has some trials along the way to finding love and bringing peace to the kingdom.

Tamora Pierce does an amazing job creating such a strong female character that you will love and want to read more of. She’s written many other series and the characters do cross over, so it’s worth reading those as well. All of her heroines are strong, independent and you will fall in love with them.

If you haven’t picked up this series you should! I read it every year. I really hope the author writes more stories in this land. It is my absolute favourite.

That’s it for me today, please continue the hop and see what book the amazing Leslie Hachtel thinks everyone should read.

Each week we have a different topic so please come back and join us! Until next time.
