Welcome to the blog hop! My son just finished up spring break, it was nice to be off for a little bit. We took a trip to Maui to visit my in-laws and to spend some time at the beach. I was happy to relax, read, paddle board and play in the ocean with my kids. Now swim team has started up and I’m back to coaching.

Today we are asked: Who gave you the best advice ever? What was it and how did it help you?
The best advice given to me was keep trying. No matter how hard something is, you keep trying. Don’t quit.
It’s easy when you see it written out like that, but when you’re in the middle of something, sometimes you want to give up. Don’t do that!
With everything in life things get hard, writing a book, family obligations, or a workout. You have to keep pushing yourself forward and say the pain will only last a few minutes, the rewards are endless!
When I was writing my first novel, I got both negative and positive feedback. To be honest I took a long time off because the negative feedback was so hard on me. However, I wanted to finish writing my first book so I continued on. I kept writing. I didn’t quit.
I received edits back for my novel and sometimes it was hard for me to hear ‘that isn’t good enough’ or ‘take this out/explain more here.’
I’ve taken a long break from writing a novel but continued on with short stories and micro flash fictions. I’m hoping those will give me the confidence to get back to work on future novels. I won’t quit. Not ever.
