Romance Writers Weekly ~ Flash Fiction Time

#lovechatwrite

Welcome to the blog hop everyone! I hope it has been a great week for you all. I’ve been trying to get all things organized and apply to become a substitute teacher. I’m excited, nervous and haven’t been in the classroom for a very long time! I’ve volunteered but that’s different. I’m also in the midst of studying to become a personal trainer and that’s been crazy!

Today we are asked to Write a piece of flash fiction including the words  swimsuit, lemonade, hammock.

The heat from the summer day wrapped around her like a warm blanket. Mallory walked along the waters edge, toes digging into the sand. It was the perfect temperature. She heaved a sigh and stared out at the ocean.

Mallory knew she should be working but this day was too good to waste. She needed the fresh air. Walking seemed to clear her mind which was jumbled to the max with swirling thoughts.

Up ahead between two trees, a hammock swayed in the breeze. It was perfect spot to release all her tension. Mallory slipped in, laid down and closed her eyes. Her body rocked back and forth. With each sway her heartbeat slowed. She inhaled and slowly let out her breath.

“Excuse me,” a deep voice cut through her zen.

Mallory’s eyes flew open and stared at the gorgeous man in front of her. Her swimsuit slipped off her shoulder. “Is there something wrong?”

“This is a private lounge area, you have to rent those and I don’t see your name on the list,” he checked a clipboard, but his eyes traveled to her bare shoulder.

“I’ve never told you my name, so how would you know what it is?”

“There is no one on the list right now,” he replied.

Mallory groaned, “can I just lay here please. I really need the quiet.”

He studied her for a moment. “I’m sorry ma’m I can’t do that.”

“I’ll pay you whatever you need to rent this hammock for an hour, please.” Her voice grew desperate.

“I’ll give you one hour, that’s it.”

“Thank you, I appreciate it.” Mallory closed her eyes and leaned back against the hammock.

“Excuse me?” he replied again.

“What do I need to do now?” Mallory asked exasperated.

“Would you like some lemonade?”

Mallory smiled and nodded.

That’s it for me today, now continue on the hop to read the incredible Brenda Margriet’s flash fiction. Until next time!
