Romance Writers Weekly ~ Flash Fiction, A First Kiss

Hello and welcome! I missed last week, but I’m glad to be back. If you missed the incredible Brenda Margriet’s flash fiction then pop back.

This week A.S. Fenichel prompts us to write a short steamy first kiss scene!

The connection between them could never be denied. Lucca didn’t even know why they tried. Ever since he’d met Quinn he knew he had to have her. Now he just needed to convince her that she needed him too. Tonight would be the night he changed her mind.

Lucca knew the exact moment Quinn entered into the room. The atmosphere became livelier, heads turned and a tingle ran down his spine. His eyes followed her as she went to the bar, paid for a glass of champagne and walked over to a corner table. He grabbed his own drink and went to join her.

“Hello Quinn,” he said in a low voice.

“Lucca!” her ruby red lips parted open in surprise. “What are you doing here?”

“You can’t deny what’s between us.”

Quinn shook her head, her brown curls bouncing on her shoulders. “I won’t have my heart ripped open.”

“Why would I ever do that to you?” he asked.

“I know your reputation.”

“You don’t know me at all. I’m here to prove that to you that I’m worth it.”

Lucca lightly touched her arm and she shuddered beneath his fingers. As he pulled her closer, his heart beat faster, tattooing a steady drum against his chest.

He could smell the sweet fragrance of champagne she had been drinking. Lucca knew when he kissed her he would be lost. He waited, listening for a moment, giving her a chance to pull away and when she didn’t, he kissed her.

Quinn’s lips blossomed under his. His soul opened up and drank in her essence. Time had stopped, he was floating on air and the only tether to earth was Quinn. She opened her mouth and he slid his tongue in. They tangled in a heated dance, one that he never wanted to end.

Reluctantly Lucca pulled away, fearing that if he didn’t stop now, he never would.

“Wait…” whispered Quinn.

“Sweetling if I don’t stop now we will be giving this restaurant a very good show.”

Quinn’s cheeks flushed a bright shade of pink, but she nodded her head in acquiescence. “That was some kiss!”

“No other will rival that. Please give me a chance. I won’t disappoint you.”

“I don’t know, Lucca.”

“Please,” he implored and placed his lips against hers once more.

She melted into him and they began the sensual dance yet again.

The people around them cheered and they pulled themselves apart. Quinn tried to move farther away but Lucca held her tightly to his side.

“I’ll never let you go,” he murmured in her ear.

“Okay,” she whispered, then tugged him toward to entrance. “Let’s go.”

Triumph swam through him and he felt his face lift up in a wide smile.

Hand in hand they walked out the door and into the starlit night. The moon glowed fierce and bright, keeping the shadows at bay. The warm breeze tickled their skin and pushed them into the future together.
