Romance Writers Weekly- Family Stories

Welcome to the blog hop! Today it’s just 2 of us. The wonderful Brenda Margriet asks:

Family oral histories are important. Share a memorable story you’ve ever heard (or told) by word of mouth that you would like your ancestors to always remember.
I know I’ve been told many stories, but of course when the question comes, I don’t know what to answer. We do have a lot of recipes that have been passed down and I still make them today. I hope that I can pass them down to my children.
Recently my mom cleaned out my grandpa’s things and found a whole bunch of letters between my grandma and grandpa. I got to read them and wow, it was amazing. I got to read my grandparents courtship which was fun. My grandma was some saucy to my grandpa. She got upset when my grandpa hadn’t written in two weeks.
I really enjoyed reading the letters and I hope we can find some more. I’ve heard stories from my dad about his youth growing up as a pastors boy and playing on his grandparents farm in Illinois. From my mom I’ve heard about her family in Seattle and how special it was when they spent time together. She told me how they used to have a folding table in their living room with a puzzle on top and each time someone would come and go, they could add to the puzzle to complete it. I think that’s a really neat idea.
I will have to ask my parents more about the stories they’ve been told and remember them to tell my grandchildren.
Now continue on and see what memorable family story Brenda has. Until next time!
