Romance Writers Weekly ~ Character Surprises

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend. This past Friday was my dad’s 70th birthday and he had a rock and roll theme party. It was so much fun! The next day we went into San Francisco and walked by Coit Tower and had dinner in Little Italy. San Francisco is such a beautiful city. I always love to go back.

Today we are asked: Do your characters ever surprise you? Talk about plots you have fallen into by luck.

Most of the time my characters are plotted out and it all comes out of my head. On the rare occasion something will pop out on the page in front of me.

I like my characters to do what I tell them to do. One of the most surprising things my characters decided to do was that she wasn’t going to survive. I had to figure out how to work that into my novel.

I know there are some short stories that I’ve written where the characters take over and the story just comes out, but that doesn’t always happen.

That’s it for me today, now continue on the hop to see if PG Forte’s characters surprise her. Until next time!

Celtic Legends

Steamy Historic Romantasy set in 19th century Ireland

  IRON

When an immortal, shape-shifting fae, arrives on his doorstep, Gavin O’Malley knows he’s in luck. Aislinn Deirbhile can give him everything he’s been missing: A devoted-seeming wife in the image of his beloved Mairead, and children who are sure to outlive their father. And all he has to do is find a way to keep her—without losing his immortal soul in the process.

OAK

Twice each year, Aine Murphy ventures into the woods to hold ceremonies to honor the Oak King and the Holly King, never dreaming these Lords of the Forest could be anything more than myth. When the legends spring to life in front of her, how can she help but fall for the sexy demi-gods she’s loved all her life?
