Welcome everybody, I was gone for a few weeks, but now I’m back. I’ve been doing a lot of reading. I set a goal of 50 books to read during the year and I’m at 40! I don’t know how I’m going to finish ten more books in two months but I’m going to try!

Today the talented Clair Brett asks us where we find inspiration for our books.
Inspiration is a funny thing. Sometimes it comes to you and bam! You can’t stop writing. Other times it lingers in the distance, like a mirage. You try to move closer, but it still stays out of reach. Lately I’ve felt that I can’t quite reach the inspiration I need.
I love to read. If I get a spare moment I’ll read. If we’re going somewhere where I know there will be a line, I’ll slip my book into my purse/bag. I get a lot of my inspiration from reading books. I’ll look at the theme or genre and think, how can I make that my own?
I also get inspiration from movies and TV shows. I watched one of the Hallmark Christmas movies last year and I took the plot of one movie, changed the characters around and made it into my own short story. That was really fun!
Sometimes I get inspired by looking at everyday life around me. I’ll people watch and think how can I make this into a story.
Hopefully creativity will strike and I will be able to put pen to paper. I’m going to try and put together all my poems that I’ve written and do that for Nanowrimo this month.
