Romance Writer’s Weekly – A Writer’s Vacation

Welcome to the blog hop! If you missed what the talented Marc Stevens had to say, just click back. Today the incredible S.C. Mitchell asks us:

Let’s take a trip. Pretend your publisher has offered you a two week vacation anywhere in the world to inspire a new novel. Where do you go and why?

Wow, if I was able to go anywhere it would be a tie between Italy and England.

There is so much culture in Italy and I felt so inspired when I went for our honeymoon many years ago. I loved every minute of traveling around Italy and I definitely want to go back and see more of that beautiful country. I could sit all day at a cafe and write a new romance. Everything would be at my fingertips, accents, amazing food, delicious coffee, and the sites! I would definitely feel inspired in Italy. Especially with all of those hot Italian men! 😉

Another place that would instigate my creativity is England. Maybe because I write regency romance and many romances take place in London. We went to London about five years ago and it was fantastic. My husband had a conference in Greenwich so I was on my own for three whole days and wow… the area was amazing. We packed a lot into our short visit and I would love to go back and see other cities where I could base novels out of. When I was there, I wrote almost everyday even if it was just in my journal. The inspiration I got here was incredible.

I can’t wait to go back to both Italy and England and see what new novels I can write when I’m there. Lately it feels like I’ve been in a rut and I’m almost afraid to try and write something new. Maybe if I imagine I’m sitting at a cafe, the breeze is blowing my hair gently away from my face and I take a bite of the tastiest gelato, I will once again have a story pouring from my fingertips.

Where does the amazing Leslie Hachtel want to go on her writing vacation? Continue on the hop and find out, until next time!
