Romance Writers Weekly – Crazy In The Name of Research.

Hello! Welcome back to another week of blogging. I hope everyone had a wonderful and romantic Valentine’s Day. I spent mine at the beach where a giant wave came and toppled over my son, he was not happy with the water after that, but we still had fun and got all sandy.

We have a blog hop going on each week. All of us authors get asked a question and we respond, hopping from one person to the next. If you missed what Brenda Margriet had to say just click and pop back. Today amazing A.S. Fenichel asks us: What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done in the name of “researching a book.” Or… What’s the craziest thing you’d like to do to research a book.

Well for my first novel I didn’t really do anything special or crazy. Just A LOT of searching on the computer for anything around the regency era. For my next novel I hope to expand my horizons and really have fun with it. (now that I sort of know what I’m doing.) However, I did come across some VEEEEERY interesting sites when I researched the romantic bits.

A good one I found was:

The Sexy Thesaurus: A List of Words to Use in Your Romance Novel

They also had a second part:

The Sexy Thesaurus 2: A List of Action Words to Use in Your Romance Novel

Some of the words and actions were racy, but so much fun to put into my novel!

Now what would be the craziest thing I’d like to do to research a book? Hrrrrm. You know, I’m not sure. I’d like to say try some of the sex moves I’ve given my characters, but I don’t know if that’s appropriate to voice out loud 😉 Ohh I would love to travel to all the places my characters have been. That’s not too crazy though.

This question was a great one, and I will probably be thinking about it in all my future researches. Thank you so much A.S. Fenichel for the topic. That’s it for me today! I wonder what the craziest thing Veronica Forand has done for research? Continue on the hop, until next time!

  1. Too late – you said it out loud! But I don’t disagree about trying things out – I’ve read some sex scenes that cannot be physically possible!

    1. True! I have too, and sometimes I laugh about them.
